One Word: Gratitude |

Recently I was asked to use one word to describe my vision, hope, and intention for 2010. After just a few short seconds of contemplation the word, gratitude, surfaced loud and clear. When January 1st showed up quicker than I expected or was ready for, I, like many of you, used that symbolic day to reflect on 2009 and dream about what 2010 might hold.
For me, this past year was filled with lots of travel, studying, writing programs, meeting hundreds, if not thousands of new people and most significantly, building relationships with my clients. I am so grateful to do the work I do as it allows me to interact with some of the most amazing people I've ever known. I absolutely love the sessions with my clients and I love experiencing their transformations. I am truly blessed to be a part of their lives.
What I've learned over the years is that when I pause each day and reflect on the things in my life that I'm grateful for, like my clients, this awareness and centeredness brings abundance into my life. There was a time when I focused on the things in my life that were going wrong, or the people in my life whether they were family, friends or acquaintances, who said or did something that upset me. And, the more I focused on those things, the more poor experiences I had.
I'm not saying that we should live in a state of denial and sweep the bad stuff under the carpet because that's not healthy either. We must acknowledge the imperfections of our days and lives, and put them in perspective, and then make a choice whether to improve them, move past them or hang onto them. We have many choices in a day, in a week and in a lifetime.
Now, I choose to cherish the precious moments in my life. I choose to celebrate my successes. I choose to focus on the positive occurrences in my day. I choose to spend more time with the people in my life who radiate love and joy. I choose to nourish my body with nutritious foods. I choose to feel good. And, I choose to show gratitude for the many blessings in my life.
This year I plan to stay focused on all the wonderful happenings in my life. I vow to stop and smell the roses along this 2010 road to the future. And, I plan to give back to those who may benefit from experiencing a little "kellyness" in their lives. Why not try to incorporate gratitude into your life and see where it takes you?
