A little about Kelly and her health and wellness journey

I am a Nutrition and Wellness Counselor and the founder of Kelly Cornell Wellness. I decided to become a nutrition and wellness counselor to fulfill my passion for educating and supporting men and women who want to improve their health, lose weight, prevent disease, and live life to the fullest.

My journey with health and wellness began well over two decades ago when I found myself overweight and unable to control my eating habits. I grew up in house where both my parents taught me the value of good nutrition and the joy of being physically active. However, when I stopped taking dance lessons at the age of eighteen, I started to gain weight and feel like my mood swings would always get the best of me. A couple of years later, my doctor diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. He did a routine laparoscopy and removed several cysts from both of my ovaries. I thought that would take care of everything, but found myself battling my weight and feeling more and more out of control.

I got married and wanted to start a family but learned that due to my hormonal and chemical imbalances, conceiving would not be easy. Happily, I adopted a son as I was eager to begin my family and did not want to accept the fact that I could end up childless.

In an effort to lose weight and experience the same type of joy I felt when I danced, I began teaching aerobics and went on to fully embrace the fitness world. For many years, I taught aerobics, managed my gym's aerobics department, and became a fitness trainer, but still struggled with my weight and infertility. Sadly, I just didn't get that there was a food connection playing a large role in my misery. I didn't understand that the foods I was eating, and those that I was avoiding were not serving my body well. Fortunately, with the help of fertility treatments I gave birth to two healthy babies, making my oldest son the proud big brother of a baby brother and baby sister.

After my twins were born I decided it was time to learn more about nutrition, and how I could take better care of myself and my family through healthy eating. Learning about food chemistry, digestion, vitamins and minerals, human anatomy and physiology, and all the other courses I took gave me the foundation I needed to begin healing my body.

And, when I learned about the strong mind/body connection going on inside me, a deeper level of healing began. I discovered that I could let go of my emotional eating patterns, and I could feel better about my body. When all this came together, I was well on my way to becoming the healthiest person I was meant to be.

My life is completely different now. My journey was long and hard, but I now know that it didn't have to be that way. If only I had someone to guide and support me in exploring the foods that worked best for my body and helping me to discover why my cravings wouldn't go away no matter how much willpower I had. And, that is why I became a nutrition and wellness counselor. My goal is to touch the lives of as many people as I can by giving them everything they need to succeed in achieving their most desired health goals.
